Materials needed
- MSPE and Transcript – requires coordination with medical school of graduation - you might be able to arrange direct upload by your medical school using MIDUS in the EFDO (ERAS Fellowships Documents Office) portal.
- Release USMLE transcript (costs approximately $80)
- Professional looking photograph - email for a copy of your Resident composite photo.
- Letters of Recommendation - most programs want 1 PD/Chair LOR and 3 specialty LORs. Dr. Kazi and Dr. Wang write a combined LOR for everyone. Dr. Kazi will reach out with instructions for formatting this LOR. Getting the 3 other LORs is up to you. You can start asking your letter writers to start writing in April- May. Once ERAS opens, you will need to use the letter request form in the LOR portal- email the PDF requests created to faculty who will use the instructions and unique code to upload letters. This can take 7-10 days toward the end so try to stay on top of this.
Some attendings want a copy of your CV and PS when writing a LOR-- another reason to work on your CV and PS early. - Personal statement - start early, run it by mentors, Dr. Rohatgi’s amazing lecture (5/4/21 in noon conference recordings)
Select and save programs - assign LORs/PS to each program once everything is uploaded in myERAS.
