Internal Medicine Program expectations for residents on subspecialty services:

Patient Caps on Consults Services and Subspecialty Clinics:

• PGY 1: No more than 2-3 new consults or 6 total consults (new and old) per day OR 3 subspecialty clinic visits per half-day.

• PGY 2+: No more than 4-5 new consults or 8 total consults (new and old) per day OR 4 subspecialty clinic visits per half-day.

  • Under no circumstances should the resident be seeing more total consults or clinic patients than a fellow.

Residents will have protected time daily to attend Morning Report (9-10am, Monday-Thursday), Noon Conference (12-1pm, Monday-Friday) and IM Grand Rounds (8-9am, Fridays)
