The goal of the program is to allow each resident to pursue scholarly activity and complete at least one research/quality improvement/medical education project during residency.
We have several resources available regarding mentorship, research training, IRB completion, poster printing, QI projects, how to write a case report etc.
The flagship research/ QI event of the program is the annual Donald W. Seldin Research Symposium. It is held in Spring every year and is an event for all IM trainees (residents and fellows) to submit their research work to. Posters are printed at no cost to symposium participants and it is a great opportunity to network and present your work to the medicine community. There are awards for the top presentations and an opportunity to present at Grand Rounds.
The elective period every year is a golden opportunity to do research/ QI. Please complete the Elective request form at least 10 days prior to the elective start date on Medhub.
These guidelines and policies apply to the house staff of the Department of Internal Medicine and house staff from other departments actively rotating as internal medicine house staff.
